Market Street Pub – Let’s Do Trivia! – Blurb from 2/20/26
Market Street Pub was packed on Friday night, and the energy felt like one of those evenings where everyone shows up pretending they’re here “just for fun,” but the moment pencils hit paper you can practically hear the theme from Jaws playing under the tables. Twelve teams, 65 players, and at least three people who definitely... earlier... Googled “how to look confident while guessing.”
The early rounds were tight — suspiciously tight — the kind of tight where you start wondering if the teams were also wearing coordinated undergarment outfits beforehand. By halftime, Amhearst Four, CRS, and The Dubs were sitting pretty in the Top 3, looking like they were posing for a motivational poster about teamwork. Meanwhile, a few other teams were quietly plotting their third‑act redemption arcs.
Remember that white space in Round 2? Let’s just say some of you were paying attention and some of you were… spiritually adjacent to the idea of attention. Points were awarded accordingly. Newsletter readers know what I’m talking about, so for March, the Super Secret Art Bonus will be write a Haiku poem. You may write this on paper and deliver to me if you need more room to write.
Then came the Final Question, which hit the room like a plot twist written by someone who gets paid by the gasp. Amhearst Four had been leading since the Truman administration, but the Final had other plans. The Dubs hit their answer/wager like they’d been saving it for sweeps week, Ridgely wasn’t far behind, and Crap Knowledge came charging in like they’d finally located the good pen. No Eyed Deer even pulled off a comeback that felt less like strategy and more like divine intervention.
When the dust settled, the night belonged to The Dubs — a well‑earned win in a room full of teams who absolutely did not come to play nice but did anyway, cuz after all, it's a social event and a trivia game.
