Post‑St. Patrick’s Day at an Irish pub can go either way — sometimes you walk into a room full of warriors, sometimes you walk into a room full of ghosts. Tonight, we got the warriors. Forty‑one regulars packed into Market Street Pub, all in good spirits, all ready for a relaxed, social night of trivia with the familiar hum of teams who know the rhythm of the show. No newcomers, no chaos, just Denton doing what Denton does best.

Being one of our hybrid nights where we weave a single round of Funky Bingo into the trivia game, a Funky Bingo earns your team a bonus point, and Chandler walked away with ten dollars from the random Funky Bingo winner draw, which got a cheer big enough to make the pub feel even warmer.
The scoreboard told the rest of the story. My Favorite Team, Crap Knowledge, and 404 Team Not Found spent most of the night trading polite jabs and nearly identical point totals. Drunk Friends held steady in the middle, What Would Jesus Do For a Klondike Bar? had one of those “almost there” nights, and Old Farts — Blue’s team — played with the kind of heart only long‑time regulars bring to the table.
Halftime tightened things up without making anyone tense. Crap Knowledge led with 47, My Favorite Team and 404 Team Not Found shared second at 44, and the rest of the field stayed close enough to keep things interesting. It was the kind of halftime where people leaned back, stretched, compared wrong answers, and enjoyed the room as much as the game.
As the later rounds rolled in, the pub settled into that cozy, post‑holiday groove. Round 4 and Round 5 brought momentum shifts, bonus points, and just enough chaos to keep everyone engaged. By Round 6, My Favorite Team and Crap Knowledge were tied at 76, with 404 Team Not Found just one point behind. A beautifully tight race heading into the Final.
And then came the great equalizer. Every team wagered. Some teams swung for the fences. Every team missed. A clean sweep of “incorrect” across the board, which made the room laugh in that shared, communal way only trivia people understand. Crap Knowledge held on for the win with 70, 404 Team Not Found took second with 69 (they're favorite number), and My Favorite Team rounded out the top three with 66. Drunk Friends, What Would Jesus Do For a Klondike Bar?, and Old Farts filled out the standings with the kind of grace only regulars can pull off.
And through all of it, we said goodbye to Blue — Queen of Denton, fixture of Old Farts, and a presence that made every game feel a little more like home. She’s moving on to new adventures, but she leaves behind a legacy of sharp answers, sharper wit, great stories, and a chair that will always feel a little occupied.
We’ll gather again on April 17, 2026 at 6:30pm, ready for more stories, more laughs, and more drawings that absolutely do not resemble the prompt but earn points anyway.
