Market Street Pub came in hot tonight, the kind of Friday crowd where you can feel the trivia energy before you even finish registering your team. About fifty players packed the room, all buzzing with that “we’re absolutely winning tonight” confidence that statistically cannot be true for most of them 😄. But optimism is free, and the universe was handing it out like drink specials.
From the very beginning, I could tell it was going to be a fun night as the on‑time bonus answers started flying in. And then came my favorite moment of the night: My Favorite Team dropped the best On-Time Bonus Answer to "Top Britney Spears 'by the expense' that was Rejected IRS, "Emotional Baggage", which honestly felt like both a punchline and a confession. The table erupted, and somewhere in the distance I swear I heard a tiny “oops!... they did it again” 🎶.
CRS rolled in a little light on players, but you wouldn’t have known it from the way they held their ground. They’ve got that veteran energy where even when they’re outnumbered, they’re never out‑vibed.
The first half scoreboard told the story of a room that came to play. Ridgely, Crap Knowledge, and Amherst Four were all circling each other like trivia sharks, while the middle of the pack traded points like they were swapping Pokémon cards. The second half tightened everything up, and by the time we hit the final question, Amherst Four and That Team From Ridgely were locked in a 72‑72 standoff that felt like the trivia version of a staring contest 👀.
Then came the wagers. Some bold. Some cautious. Some “I don’t know, just write something.” Only one team hit the final: No Eye Deer, who vaulted themselves into fourth with a clean ten‑point strike. The rest of the room took the scenic route downward. Amherst Four and That Team From Ridgely both protected their lead with zero‑point wagers, finishing tied at the top with 72. Crap Knowledge held strong in third with 69, and the rest of the field landed exactly where the trivia winds carried them. Crap Knowledge, last month's winners, pretended to hide the elusive trophy when they had to parade it to this month's winners! That Team From Ridgely. It was adorable, like watching raccoons try to sneak off with a loaf of bread 🦝🥖.
And because this was a hybrid LDT + Funky Bingo night, the bingo gods smiled upon Amanda and Taylor, each snagging a crisp $10 for their Funky Bingo wins 💸😎. May their dabbers stay juicy and their luck stay loud.
We’re back at Market Street Pub on May 15, and somewhere in that show, tucked quietly into the white space under Round 2, Question 1, someone will earn a little extra magical points (3 of 'em) by writing the number 42. Why 42? Because the universe (and John) said so. ✨
